Core OpenTelemetry declarative configuration reaches stable status
OpenTelemetry marked key configuration data-model, YAML, schema, parsing, creation, and plugin-extension elements stable while implementation support remains uneven.

OpenTelemetry announced stable status for core declarative-configuration pieces: the 1.0.0 data-model JSON schema, YAML representation, in-memory model, mapping-node representation, plugin-component mechanism, and generic parsing and creation operations [1].
Stability narrows specification churn for those elements. It does not mean every SDK has complete or identical support. Evaluation must record the language, SDK release, supported component set, extension behavior, validation errors, secrets handling, and rollback path.
| Question | Current evidence |
|---|---|
| Is a stable schema available? | Yes, project-announced for the named core components |
| Is every language implementation complete? | No such universal claim; check per implementation |
| Does configuration eliminate vendor coupling? | No; exporters, extensions, dashboards, and backends remain separate portability dimensions |
This item extends the OpenTelemetry 2026 cycle and informs reproducible instrumentation and configuration portability. It is a standards-maturity story, not a platform ranking.
