Telemetry
Telemetry is machine-generated evidence transported from a system so its behavior can be measured, investigated, and explained.
Read the page as a transparent path: establish context, inspect the evidence, then test the published stance.
Evidence that leaves the system
Telemetry is the machine-generated evidence a system emits or exposes for collection and analysis. OpenTelemetry distinguishes signal types and their context rather than treating telemetry as one uniform stream [1].
Collection is a design decision: teams should retain the evidence needed for operational questions, risk, service objectives, and investigation while controlling privacy, volume, cardinality, and cost.
